Blue Phoenix Consulting President Sam Green will present an energy efficiency grant workshop for farmers and small business owners on Jan. 30 at the Marion Art Center.

According to a graphic provided by Blue Phoenix energy funding is available for farmers and small business owners through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) REAP program.

Perry County Commissioner Cedric Hudson said that the grants will provide energy efficiency upgrades for buildings and electrical equipment.

"For example, if your business has an old electric air compressor and you want a new more energy-efficient air compressor the grant would pay for half of the cost," he said. "Maybe your building needs more insulation, or you need to convert to an LED lighting system, this grant would cover half of the cost."

To register, call the Perry County Extension Office at 334-683-6888.

The workshop will be held at 3 p.m. at the center located on 314 Washington Street.
