A cookout on 7 U.S. Highway 80 across from Edmund Pettus Bridge will commemorate the signing of the Voting Rights Act and will encourage others to vote tomorrow on Tuesday, Aug. 5.Â
The Voting Rights Act was signed in 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to prohibit racial discrimination during elections.Â
The event will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and free food will be given out.Â
