Six churches from Valley Grande and Selma gathered to celebrate with the community for Valley Grande’s third annual Easter Egg hunt April 1 at Valley Grande Park.
About 8,000 eggs were donated for the Easter egg hunt. There was plenty more for everyone to do, including bean bag tossing, Easter bowling and face painting.
The event was coordinated by Bubba Holly in partnership with the Valley Grande City Council. “It started three years ago,” Holly said. “It was laid on my heart to do this and try to bring the community together.”
After the Easter egg hunt, there was a call for anyone who picked up a golden egg. Three young boys approached the table. Five-year-old Jake Smith and Gabe Hamm and Mason Gray, both 7 years old, received a trophy with a book for their prize.
Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe was happy with the event. “It’s a good thing for the community. It brings us together,” Labbe said.
