The Selma and Dallas County Economic Development Authority has named a new executive director.
Brenda Tuck, who has two decades of economic development experience, will take over in January for Wayne Vardaman, who is retiring after 24 years.
“I am excited about Brenda assuming the role of executive director. I have worked with her in numerous roles over the last 30 years and have found her to be very capable of leading the EDA in the future,” Vardaman said in a statement. “Her knowledge and background in economic development are broad and diverse. I commendthe EDA search committee for this decision.”
Tuck previously served as rural development manager and regional workforce council liaison for the Alabama Department of Commerce, executive director of the Marengo County Economic Development Authority, partner with Alford & Associates and economic development team representative for Pioneer Electric Cooperative.
"I began my journey in economic development here, and I am very proud to be coming back home here to work in our communities in Dallas County," Tuck said. "Through my work as the RurAL Development Manager, Dallas has remained a county in which I have worked. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with Wayne Vardaman, as he has led the charge here for over 20 years. The accomplishments he has achieved for this county are evident with the numerous announcements for jobs and investment throughout the county."
