The Dallas County school system, parents and students are grieving the loss of their basketball coach who was shot and killed in an armed robbery attempt on Thursday.
Christopher Harrell, 56, basketball coach at Dallas County High School, was picking up dinner at Lannie's BBQ on Medical Parkway and was approached by one, possibly two, men at his vehicle who tried to rob him, according to al.com.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford told al.com it was about 6 p.m. Thursday when Harrell picked up dinner to go from Lannie’s BBQ. No suspects are in custody.
Dallas County High School posted on Facebook the opportunity for students to pay tribute to Coach Harrell by placing cards or letters in a box outside of the gym. "Be encouraged to reach out to any former students so they can play a part in this as well."
