Dallas County schools are closed on Monday due to lack of power to homes and schools and continued cleanup after Hurricane Zeta.

Superintendent Hattie Shelton said Sunday that too many families are still without power and the schools also don't have power. She hopes to reopen schools on Tuesday and will make an announcement on Monday.

Alabama Power crews continue to replace power lines throughout central Alabama after widespread damage from Hurricane Zeta that raced through the state on Wednesday night. 12,000 are still without power in Dallas County and some estimates for restoration of power are as late as Wednesday.
