The Selma High School Saints delivered a dominant performance against the Jemison Tigers, earning a commanding 60-14 victory in an impressive display of offense and defense. With the win, the Saints secured their place in the playoffs.
Jemison opened the game with a touchdown on the first play, successfully converting the two-point attempt to take an early 8-0 lead. The Saints quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, but their two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
Selma continued to build momentum as No. 3 Cedrick Simmons found the end zone for another Saints touchdown. No. 17 Michael Hosea added to the scoring with another touchdown, while running back No. 10 Dwand Atkins was unable to convert the two-point attempt.
Jemison answered with another touchdown, but the Saints kept their offensive pressure on. Kole Moody connected with Michael Hosea on a pass down the middle for another touchdown. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
With three seconds remaining in the second quarter, the Saints fumbled the ball, giving Jemison possession heading into halftime. Selma held a 30-14 lead at the break.
The Saints came out strong in the second half after Jemison kicked off to Selma. Cedrick Simmons scored the first touchdown of the half and completed the first successful two-point conversion of the game for the Saints.
Selma’s defense continued to make plays as the Tigers fumbled the ball, which was recovered by the Saints. Simmons capitalized on the opportunity by scoring another touchdown, further extending Selma’s lead.
Caeden Moody added another touchdown for the Saints, followed by a successful two-point conversion. Although Kole Moody later threw an interception, Jemison was unable to capitalize on the turnover.
With just 1:37 remaining on the clock, Kole Moody ran the ball into the end zone himself for another Saints touchdown, bringing the score to 60-14.
The win also clinched a playoff spot for Selma High School that is now 6-0. Selma plays Montevallo (1-5) on the road next Friday night.Â
