The afternoon and evening hours may see severe weather for a portion of the Black Belt.

Damaging winds up to 60 mph may occur as part of the weather events, said a report by the National Weather Service Birmingham.

The Level 1 threat appears to be aimed at roughly half of Montgomery County and the areas west of it as shown by a graphic posted online by the Dallas County Emergency Management.

The public is advised to have ways of receiving alerts, have access to shelter and keep up to date with weather reports as they are made.
