The afternoon and evening hours may see severe weather for a portion of the Black Belt.Â
Damaging winds up to 60 mph may occur as part of the weather events, said a report by the National Weather Service Birmingham.Â
The Level 1 threat appears to be aimed at roughly half of Montgomery County and the areas west of it as shown by a graphic posted online by the Dallas County Emergency Management.Â
The public is advised to have ways of receiving alerts, have access to shelter and keep up to date with weather reports as they are made.Â

CST MONDAY ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA...
* WHAT...Very cold wind chill values, as low as 7 degrees across
northern counties to 15 degrees across southern counties, are
expected.
* WHERE...All of Central Alabama.
* WHEN...From 6 PM Sunday to 7 AM CST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of
subfreezing temperatures could cause pipes to burst.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call
211 or visit 211connectsalabama.org for assistance locating
appropriate shelter from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
