Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey has officially retired from the office following his announcement on Monday.Â
A post on the DA's social media thanked Bailey for his 27 years in office, pointing out that he began in 1997 as a prosecutor before later becoming Chief Deputy District Attorney.Â
He garnered a reputation for advocating for victims and for working to identify the root cause of crimes, the post said.Â
"A dynamic innovator, his approach has led to the development of programs and services designed to create positive outcomes for youth and families in need, as well as helping low-level offenders become law-abiding citizens," it says. "This includes the Helping Montgomery Families Initiative, I-LEAD, the Montgomery County Cold Case Task Force, Open Doors and many more."
Bailey became District Attorney in 2014.Â
"His departure truly marks the end of an era. However, we are honored to have been a part of it!" the post said.Â
