Demopolis Rotary Club held their 51st annual Rotary Charity Golf Tournament at the Demopolis Country Club on Friday with 30 teams playing to raise money for local charities.

Rotary Club President Sean Parker said the tournament brings in between $8,000 to $12,000 every year. Funds go toward Camp ASCCA, Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults at Lake Martin, with the rest going to local nonprofits.

During COVID, the club held the event in the fall, and the last fall event was held in 2023. The Friday tournament marked the return to the spring, Parker said.

“It’s a spring tournament and needed to come back to spring, so we’re pulling two off this year,” Parker said while on the ninth hole.

Rotary Club of Demopolis also hosts a canned food drive in the fall and helps cleanup local schools, but Parker said the golf tournament is the biggest fundraiser of the year.
