Eufaula Police confirmed that a 65-year-old man from Dothan drowned while on a fishing trip at Lake Eufaula on Wednesday.Â
According to a press release from the Eufaula Police Department the man was identified as Will Anthony Newman. He reportedly fell overboard near the Cheneyhatchee bridge.
Newman was recovered at approximately 7:55 p.m. Recovery efforts were performed by the Eufaula Police and Fire Departments, Game and Fish, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Marine Division, the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston County Dive Team.
"Our thoughts and prayers from each department go out to the family," said the Eufaula Police Department's press release posted to social media.Â
