Eight new charging stations or ports for electric vehicles were unveiled during a ribbon cutting at Montgomery Whitewater Park on Thursday.

The stations feature two 180kW rapid chargers and six 16.64kW chargers that will make it easier electric vehicles to charge while visiting the park, said a post on social media by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.

The project was a collaborative effort between the Montgomery County Commission, Alabama Power Company, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Montgomery Whitewater Park, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs or ADECA.

It was funded by a $461,700 grant from ADECA's Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program.

"These new stations are already bringing new visitors off the interstate to explore all Montgomery Whitewater Park has to offer," said Montgomery County Commissioner Doug Singleton.
