A date has been set for the execution of Jeffery James Lee, 49, who was convicted for the murders of two during a pawn shop robbery near Orrville in 1998. 

According to the Associated Press, the date was set to June 11 by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey. A bench trial has been set to April 27 by a federal who is challenging the method of Lee's execution, which will be by nitrogen. 

Lee was convicted for the murders of pawn shop owner Jimmy Ellis and an employee, Elaine Thompson, on Dec. 12 of that year with a sawed off shotgun. 

He was initially sentenced to life in prison but this was overturned by a judge and he was sentenced to death.
