A federal judge has ruled against a preliminary injunction requested by Jackson Hospital in Montgomery in their dispute Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) regarding reimbursement rates.Â
According to WSFA, a 14-page ruling was issued in which the judge agreed that the reimbursement rate for Jackson Hospital does not have to be the same as the rate given to Baptist Medical Center South.Â
Additionally, the ruling stated that evidence suggested that BCBS had increased 2026 rates by 10% over previously agreed-upon rates. The judge, Christopher Hawkins, said that this apparently contradicted claims by Jackson Hospital that BCBS "refused to negotiate in good faith".Â
The Board of Directors for Jackson Hospital have warned that the facility will close if a deal is not reached by later in June.Â
A statement was released by BCBS expressing appreciation for the decision but hoping that the hospital can remain in operations and that a solution can be found soon.Â
