The Alabama Department of Labor (ADOL) has put out a reminder to claimants that the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) program is set to expire on July 25.
The program grants an additional $600 per week from the CARES act to unemployed claimants throughout the nation as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause job shortages.
“At this time, the federal government has not changed or extended the FPUC program,” said an announcement from ADOL. “States do not have the ability to extend FPUC.”
The announcement also said that if “a claimant is eligible for retroactive benefits on their claim they will receive the additional $600 FPUC payment for eligible weeks between March 29, 2020 and July 25, 2020 even if the claim is processed after July 25, 2020.”
