A flood watch is in effect for part of Central Alabama, including part of the Black Belt, from noon today to Thursday evening.

According to the Dallas County Emergency Management, Black Belt counties that may be affected are Dallas, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, and Perry.

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," said the management's social media. "Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas."

Rain in watch areas are forecasted to be two to four inches and locally higher amounts.

The public is advised to stay up date with weather reports and take precautions as needed.
