Samuel Cornelius Green, who is the former chief of the Brundidge Police Department, has been ordered to forfeit several rental properties and pay restitution as part of a wire fraud case that he pled guilty to in October 2025.Â
According to a statement from the office U.S. Attorney Kevin P. Davidson a federal judge entered a final order of forfeiture against the 51-year-old defendant on Jan. 21. This required him to forfeit three rental properties in Troy.Â
The guilty plea involves illegally receiving funds through the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist landlords seeking reimbursement for tenants’ unpaid rent during that time.Â
"According to Green’s plea agreement and other court records, beginning in March 2021, Green submitted multiple ERAP applications containing false and misleading information regarding tenants, rental arrangements, and payment histories in order to obtain funds to which he was not entitled," said the statement.Â
"In some of the fraudulent applications, Green submitted counterfeit and altered utility bills. The scheme continued through November 2021."
Green eventually pled guilty to wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud along with a co-conspirator, Schemillia Levera Fenn, of Troy, who also pled. guilty to wire fraud.Â
On Jan. 14, Green and Fenn were ordered to pay $118,175 in restitution to the U.S. Department of the Treasury and a $1,000 fine was imposed against Green.
