A former officer of the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) from Montgomery was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of a drug distribution conspiracy.Â
According to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Kevin P. Davidson, Henry Guice, Jr., 46, had a post at the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County.
On June 20 in 2023 a K-9 unit being was used to inspect cars in the parking lot and was alerted to Guice's.Â
He was called outside and a search was conducted, which yielded three bags of what was suspected to be methamphetamine in the car and two other bags inside of his pockets. A laboratory analysis confirmed the methamphetamine.Â
In May Guice reportedly admitted to conspiring with an inmate to distribute the drugs. The inmate, Brad Elliot Gordon, 48, was indicted and his trial is set for February in 2025.Â
