COVID-19 is no longer a pandemic. It’s an endemic. And those few letters make all the difference, according to surgeon and infectious disease expert Dr. Lane Rolling.
Rolling, medical director and chief science officer for COVID-19 Taskforce USA SRS, said in a Zoom call with the Black Belt COVID Taskforce this week that a pandemic is a widespread epidemic, while an endemic is a disease that is “here to stay.”
“COVID will be with us all the time for the next 10 years,” Rolling said. “It’s not following the basic rules of flu that’s active from October through November. [COVID] can make you sick all the time.”
