Gov. Kay Ivey received the Capital Legacy Impact Award from the Montgomery Regional Chamber during a meeting on Wednesday.
A press release from the Ivey's office stated that the award was given to her because she has "consistently advanced the priorities that strengthen communities and drive long-term economic growth."
“Throughout her distinguished career – and especially as Alabama’s longest-serving governor – Governor Ivey has championed initiatives that align closely with the Chamber’s mission: Expanding opportunity, supporting workforce and education, improving infrastructure, bolstering military readiness, enhancing public safety and fostering a competitive business climate," said Chamber President and CEO Anna Buckalew.
"Her leadership has helped secure transformative investments, accelerate job creation and elevate Montgomery’s role as the Capital City that helps set the pace for progress across Alabama. Governor Ivey’s steady, visionary leadership reflects exactly what this award represents — decisions and dedication that shape the future of the Capital Region and leave a lasting impact on the entire state.”
Ivey delivered the following remarks during her acceptance:
Thank you, all, very much for this recognition. It is an honor to serve you as governor.
Let me say, though, that our success in Montgomery depends upon the partnership of everyone here. So, THANK YOU.
I especially appreciate Director Robinson for her leadership both here with the Chamber over the last year and on my Cabinet.
Y’all, to have a strong Alabama, we must have a strong Capital City.
