The Hale County Commission received a $46,772 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for LED lighting in the Hale County Courthouse in Greensboro.
“These funds will facilitate modern updates that will significantly reduce energy costs over time,” said Gov. Kay Ivey in an announcement. “That savings will allow a larger portion of local budgets to be used each year to directly benefit the communities being served.”
The commission was one of other agencies to benefit from a $500,000 round of grants from ADECA, with another in the Black Belt being the Pike County Board of Education that received $47,418 LED lighting at the Pike County High School Athletic Complex.
“The leaders of these counties, municipalities and organizations recognize that investing in energy-efficient systems makes good economic sense,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in commending them for their foresight in pursuing these beneficial projects.”
