High temperatures expected through rest of the week

High temperatures are expected for many counties in Alabama, including several in the Black Belt, for the rest of the week during the height of the summer season. 

Heat index values will range from 76 to as high as 106 until Friday. Cities that will be affected include Demopolis, Eufaula, Montgomery, Selma and Troy, according to the National Weather Service Birmingham. 

Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can result in heat exhaustion and heat stroke. 

The public is advised to have hydration and avoid going outdoor between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
