This week is bringing high temperatures to Alabama and with it may come storms through Wednesday night at 10 p.m.

As temperatures climb into the mid to high nineties with much higher heat indexes there may also be gusts of winds up to 40-60 mph according to the National Weather Service Birmingham.

A portion of the Black Belt is under a slight risk for storms.

Weather experts are additionally advising the public to take precautions during hot weather by staying hydrated, limited times outdoors and having access to air conditioning.

If storms develop the public is advised to stay up to date with weather reports and take precautions as needed, such as access to steady shelter and have ways to receive alerts.
