Getting Globe Metallurgical to reopen in Dallas County and bring 70 jobs back took six months of economic development efforts worked behind the scenes.
After the announcement of the plant’s return to its Old Montgomery Road location during a ceremony last week, officials said it took a large team working hard and long over a long period of time to secure the deal.
“This has been a cooperative effort by the EDA, The State of Alabama, Dallas County Commission, and the City of Selma,” said Wayne Vardaman, executive director of the Selma-Dallas County Economic Development Authority. “They worked over a six month period to get to this point.”
