Initial unemployment claims for the week of Nov. 22 to Nov. 28 were released by the Alabama Department of Labor.Â
There were 7,061 initial unemployment claims filed online or by telephone. Of that number 2,958 of the claims were related to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
The largest amount of claims were from Jefferson County with 1,002. A map on the ADOL's website showed that Dallas County had 72 claims as of Nov. 28.Â
Industry sector claims were made for the following: Industry Not Available at 3,247, Manufacturing at 558, Administrative and Support and Waste at 546, Accommodation and Food Services at 512, Health Care and Social Assistance at 472, and Retail Trade at 439.
