In District Judge Vernetta Perkins’ courtroom, it’s not about punishment. It’s about support.
Perkins was an attorney on the Dallas County Drug Court team for three years before replacing retired Judge Bob Armstrong. Now that she’s on the bench, Perkins tries to make families healthy again.
“We try to support families in every way possible with all of the resources we have,” Perkins said. “It’s not just what we can give. We go out and try to find and work with other agencies and other community resources to be able to give to these families.”
