July 4 celebrations in the Black Belt

As July 4 approaches, cities throughout the Black Belt are announcing their celebration plans.

Here are options that week for celebrating Independence Day:

June 28

Thomasville hosts its Hometown Celebration downtown with bouncy houses, food and vendors, live music, a car show, the cornhole tournament and more. The event starts at 5 p.m. and fireworks are at 9 p.m. Go here for more information.

June 30

Grove Hill will have an Independence Day celebration at S.P. Hudson Park with activities starting at 5 p.m. The fireworks show begins at 9.

July 3

Jackson’s Independence Day celebration will be at the Jackson fair grounds starting at 5 p.m. until dark with fireworks.

July 4

Freedom on the River will take place in Demopolis from 6-9 p.m. at Demopolis City Landing. The children's parade will start at 6 p.m. Includes food, fireworks and entertainment. Sponsored by Demopolis Chamber and City of Demopolis.

Stars & Stripes Fourth of July Celebration is July 4-6 at Riverfront Park & Amphitheater. The event features Levitt AMP Selma free live music series, downtown street fair, food trucks, vendors, activities, and a dazzling fireworks show. Valley Grande hosts a Fourth of July celebration with fireworks at 9 p.m. behind the ball field off Highway 22. 

Lowndesboro hosts a Fourth of July parade at 8:30 a.m. with lineup starting at Lowndes Academy at 7:30 a.m. The patriotic program is at 9 a.m.at Ruby Moore Park.

Orrville hosts fireworks at Orrville Community center at 463 Academy Street at 8 p.m.
