The Juneteenth Freedom Fest in Selma is set for Saturday, June 17 at 3 p.m.Â
Juneteenth marks the day that African American slaves in Texas were proclaimed free and has now become a federal holiday.Â
There will be music, prizes, free food and books. The event is sponsored by Northstar, Ancient Africa Enslavement and Civil War Museum, Selma Bridge Crossing, and Blackbelt Human Resources.Â
The festival will take place at Z 105.3 Radio Station parking lot on 1501 J.L. Chestnut Blvd.Â

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 21 percent.
* IMPACTS...The combination of a dry air mass and windy
conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
