Juneteenth Freedom Fest in Selma set for June 17

The Juneteenth Freedom Fest in Selma is set for Saturday, June 17 at 3 p.m. 

Juneteenth marks the day that African American slaves in Texas were proclaimed free and has now become a federal holiday. 

There will be music, prizes, free food and books. The event is sponsored by Northstar, Ancient Africa Enslavement and Civil War Museum, Selma Bridge Crossing, and Blackbelt Human Resources. 

The festival will take place at Z 105.3 Radio Station parking lot on 1501 J.L. Chestnut Blvd.
