A lack funding may lead to the closure of Jackson Hospital and Clinic in Montgomery by the end of October.Â
According to WSFA, the hospital has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which will allow it to stay open while a loan has been provided by Jackson Healthcare and its parent company, Jackson Investment Group.Â
Though the hospital is operating with $2 million along with loans it will not allow it to stay open beyond October and will need help from city, county and state officials.Â
Administrators have asked for help from the Montgomery city government in the form of a $20 million loan.Â
Councilor Andrew Szymanski has reportedly voiced support for funding the hospital and stated that the council will consider it, though proposals from outside have been made, providing alternatives.Â
A final action has not been taken by the council.Â
