The people behind the Local Farm Cooperative in East Selma held a Covenants & Collards event on Saturday to welcome new worker-owners and community-owners who are helping grow fresh vegetables for themselves and the community.

Around a circle of tree stumps on a crisp fall day, farm leaders distributed a patronage, or profit, to the workers for their share of produce sold and cut a ribbon to recognize the new shed built by worker-owner/Co-Farm Manager Alfonza Greer for storage of equipment and as their first “capital” project.

Local co-founder Brendan O’Connor passed the torch of co-farm manager to Drew Glover as leader of the project as he prepares to relocate to North Carolina.
