Lowndes Academy softball

The 2024 baseball and softball season was magic for the Lowndes Academy Rebels which won the AISA State Championships in both.

The AISA Class A State Baseball Tournament was played May 7-9 at Patterson Field in Montgomery and the Rebels won two games in the three-game series over the Wilcox Academy Wildcats.

In game one, Lowndes won 11-7 and in game two, Lowndes won 2-0. 

Steele Swanner, Turner Jordan, and Ty Vick were named to the All-Tournament Team for Wilcox Academy. Clayton Hussey, Cooper Dansby, Grant Casey and Bradyn Stokes were named to the All-Tournament Team for Lowndes Academy.

According to Lowndes Academy, the Rebels have won four state championships in baseball back-to-back in 2006 and 2007 and back-to-back in 2023 and 2024. 

Lebo Jones, head baseball coach for Wilcox Academy, said of his team, “The kids played very hard and gave their best effort, but came up a little short. Lowndes Academy has a very good team and congratulations to them. I'm proud of the way our team played all season and for reaching the state finals.”

The Lowndes Academy Lady Rebels won the AISA Class A State Softball Championship in the AISA State Softball Tournament played May 2-4 at Lagoon Park in Montgomery with Lowndes Academy finishing in first place and South Choctaw Academy second.

The All-Tournament Softball Team included from Lowndes Academy, Izzy Sullins, Catie Wallace Self, Haley Briggs and Emma Phillips, and from South Choctaw Academy, Reagen Phillips, Martie Grace Jenkins and Marlee Williams.

The Lady Rebels have won seven state championships in softball, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2013, 2024, 2023 and 2024.
