The city of Luverne in Crenshaw County has received a $150,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for upgrades at a new Cenergy Oil & Gas station.
“I am pleased to see a thriving Alabama business expand and bring new jobs to the area,” said Gov. Kay Ivey in an announcement. “This new service center will be in a prime location, provide an economic boost in Luverne and offer a new fuel and shopping option to travelers and residents alike.”
The new, 3,000-square-foot location on U.S. 331 will employ 15 people, according to the announcement.
Included in the project will be an extension of water and sewer service to the site and street improvements that ensures safe access. It will also reportedly allow for future development on the site.
“The infrastructure improvements made during this project will help support ongoing economic development in the city of Luverne,” said ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in commending local leaders for working with Cenergy to bring this plan to fruition.”
The city of Luverne is providing $37,500 for the project.
