Main Street Demopolis has used a $25,000 grant from Main Street Alabama to install outdoor speakers for the Public Square in the downtown area.Â
An announcement from Main Street Alabama said that the total investment was $29,236.83.Â
The speakers play ambient music but also supports announcements and live entertainment during events like Bark in the Park, the Crawfish Boil, and the Demopolis Farmers Market.Â
It is part of a series of improvements, including the renovation of George Building at the corner of N. Walnut Avenue and E, as well as landscaping, pathway lighting, and the restoration of the fountain.
"As Main Street Demopolis’s first major permanent infrastructure investment, this project is already supporting year-round activity and encouraging expanded outdoor seating by local businesses," said the announcement. "This is Main Street Alabama at work, turning grant funding into visible progress that strengthens downtowns across the state."
