A man was arrested and charged with second degree assault after allegedly striking a Montgomery Police Department (MPD) during a response to a domestic dispute.

According to WSFA, the incident took place at around 9:10 a.m. on Monday when the officer responded to the 5700 block of Calmar Drive on a report of a domestic situation.

After arriving the officer attempted to take Charity Devontay Wright, 26, into custody. Wright reportedly had outstanding felony warrants and had previously been indicted on traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act.

During the attempt to arrest him, Wright allegedly struck and pushed the officer before fleeing.

Wright was eventually caught and charged with attempting to elude and resisting arrest in addition to the assault degree.

He was placed at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $15,000 bond.
