The Demopolis High School Tigers traveled to Shelby County Friday to ruin the homecoming of the Montevallo High School Bulldogs in a 38-6 rout.
The Tigers earned their first touchdown two minutes into the game and never looked back. The score was 24-0 at the end of the first quarter, and the Tigers added another touchdown in the second quarter. A touchdown in the third quarter gave the Tigers a 38-0 lead.Â
It wasn’t until a mercifully shortened fourth quarter that the Bulldogs earned their first first down and scored their only points on a touchdown as the sped-up clock ran down.
The Tigers had a problem with PATs, making only the last two extra point kicks.Â
The Tigers generated 17 first downs on 386 total yards, 216 of which were on the ground. Jamarcus Davis accounted for 134 of those rushing yards. JW McAlpin was under center for most of the game.
The Bulldogs had one first down and 32 yards of offense, all in the abbreviated fourth quarter.
This was the Tigers’ first win of the three-game season. Demopolis welcomes the Selma High School Saints on Sept. 19.
