The Marion Cemetery Association and the Francis Marion LifeSmarts team recently received grants from the Perry County Commission.Â
At a meeting of the commission the Marion Cemetery Association was presented a check from Commissioner Anthony Long for $4,000. The money will be used for continued upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery.Â
Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr. presented a $3,000 check to Perry County Schools Superintendent Marcia Smiley to support the LifeSmarts team, which will participate in the finals of the LifeSmarts National Championship in California on April 1.
Additionally, Turner announced that Rep. Prince Chestnut presented a $50,000 check to the Perry County School Board to install lights at the baseball field at Francis Marion School.
