The City of Marion Police Department is looking for more police officers.Â
Marion Police Chief Tony Bufford said there are at least three openings to fill.Applicants must be certified by the Alabama Peace Officer Standard and Training Commission and must meet all requirements to work as a police officer in Alabama. He also said it is important that applicants have a good drivingrecord, and must not have any felony convictions or domestic violations on their record. They must also be able to possess a firearm.Â
Bufford said although police officers are expected to work nights, weekends and some holidays, they do get paid vacation and sick leave as well as paid holidays. The job also offers insurance benefits and retirement benefits.Â
Applications can be submitted at the police department Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. OnFridays applications can be submitted between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Applications can also be mailed to the Marion Police Department, P.O.
