A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Marion man on July 16, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported.

ALEA said that Barry E. Moore, 42, was fatally injured when the 2010 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. July 16 on Perry County 23 near Perry County 20, approximately three miles west of Marion in Perry County.

Moore, who was not using a seat belt at the time, was pronounced deceased at the scene, but he was not immediately identified. Moore’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS), where his identity was later confirmed.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
