Memorial Stadium new scoreboard

Memorial Stadium got a new scoreboard in October 2026.

The city of Selma has installed a new Nevco scoreboard at Memorial Stadium just in time for the cross-county game between the Selma High School Saints and the Keith High School Bears Oct. 30.

The new scoreboard cost $41,000, with $17,000 covered by one donor and another $24,000 asked for through multiple donations in August.

The city says support came from Pepsi, a substantial donation came from Deckorators and through a partnership of Frasier-Ousley Construction and Engineering, who completed the installation at cost.

The project was spearheaded by Planning and Development Director Danielle Wooten, Recreation Manager Gerald Barron and longtime recreation advocate Robert Massey, representing Pepsi Bottling Company.

Deckorators has also committed to donating new bleachers for Memorial Stadium, according to a city news release. Deckorators General Manager Austin Smith said the company’s mineral-based composite product is designed to provide long-lasting durability and performance. The product is manufactured in Dallas County and is one of the fastest-growing product lines under UFP Industries.

“We are extremely grateful to Deckorators for their earnest support to improve Memorial Stadium,” Selma Mayor Johnny Moss III said. “These partnerships demonstrate what can happen when businesses, community advocates and local government work together to invest in our city’s future.”

Moss also thanked State Sen. Robert Stewart for securing state funding for recreation and Councilman Clay Carmichael for using some of his discretionary funds for new security gates.

Selma’s Recreation Committee is chaired by Councilwoman Nadine Sturdivant and supported by Council members Michael Johnson and Carmichael.
