The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences will host Minds Matter: Youth Wellness Fair at the Theo Ratliff Activity
Center in Demopolis on March 27.
"The goal is to provide a welcoming, stigma-free space where kids, teens, and parents can learn about mental health, explore coping strategies, and connect with local resources," said a press release from Rural Medical Scholar Kelsei Elmore.
A highlight of the event will be the "Ask A Professional" station where attendees can submit questions.
"We understand that families often have burning questions about focus, mood changes, or school stress but don't know where to turn," said Elmore. "This opportunity allows attendees to submit questions anonymously and receive general educational guidance and trusted information from experts in a supportive setting."
There will be interactive booths and resources from partners, including University Medical Center, Strive Counseling Services, Anderson Family Care, the American foundation for Suicide Prevention, UAB, and the West Alabama Mental Health Center.
The free event will also have free food, giveaways, and interactive activities on topics such as ADHD and Autism awareness and sleep and nutrition.
It will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the center on 306 1st Avenue in Demopolis.
