"Montgomery Cares: Hope & Healing Drive" was recently launched to take donations for two local organizations that serve domestic violence victims.

The City of Montgomery partnered with the Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) for the initiative in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The campaign runs through Nov. 11, with city employees, residents, businesses, faith-based organizations, and community partners taking part to donate 100 personal care and hygiene products to Family Sunshine Center and another 100 to One Place Family Justice Center.

The campaign's theme is 'Small Items. Big Impact’.

“Montgomery Cares reflects the compassion and generosity of our community,” said Mayor Steven L. Reed. “By coming together to donate everyday essentials, we can help provide comfort, dignity, and hope to individuals and families on their journey toward safety, healing, and stability.”

The following items are requested:

  • Feminine hygiene products (pads, tampons, liners)
  • Oral hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss)
  • First aid kits and supplies (bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers)
  • Soap and body wash
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Lotion and skin care products
  • Tissues and wipes
  • Hair care items (combs, brushes, hair ties)
  • Resource pamphlets and informational materials
