The Montgomery City Council passed its fiscal year 2024 that includes infrastructure projects and pay raises for certain city positions.

Pay raises were approved for the Montgomery Police Department, Montgomery Fire/Rescue, Sanitation, Street Maintenance, and other departments that were not named in the city's announcement.

Public safety, city streets, buildings, and other public infrastructure were approved under the budget.

The announcement said that Montgomery's financial situation is sound and that short-time debt, as well as long-term debt, has been paid off. It also mentioned that grant funding has helped offset costs "by millions."

The new fiscal year begins on Oct. 1.
