The Montgomery Fire Department has launched its Fill the Boot campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).Â
"MDA is the largest funding source for neuromuscular disease research outside the federal government, and research funded by the Muscular Dystrophy Association is directly linked to approved treatments that are transforming the lives of people," said the City of Montgomery's Facebook page.
The department's Facebook page said that they have raised more than $1.8 million for the association, which has a national network of care centers to treat those with the condition.Â
