A man from Montgomery who was convicted of unlawfully imprisoning and raping two women in 2022 and 2023 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
According to a statement from Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver Rubin Atkins pleaded guilty to the crimes, one occurring on Dec. 28, 2022 and the other on Jan. 16, 2023.
In her statement Oliver said that Atkins lured the female victims to his residence where he sexually assaulted them before demanding money to be released and threatened violence if they refused.
The severity and pattern of these crimes make clear just how dangerous this serial offender is," said Oliver. "These were calculated, predatory acts that inflicted lasting trauma and violated the most basic sense of safety and dignity. The tireless work of the prosecutors, investigators, and victims’ advocates has ensured that this dangerous individual will be off our streets for the next two decades — unable to harm others.”
