A man from Montgomery is dead following a two-vehicle wreck on Monday afternoon.Â
A statement from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the victim as Dakus M. Nixon, 50, who was driving a 2008 Freightliner box truck that struck the rear of a 2023 Hyundai Palisade driven by Vatausha O. Howard, 42, of Selma.
The truck then struck a concrete barrier. Nixon was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, said the statement. He was transported to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery but later succumbed to his injuries.Â
The crash reportedly took place on Interstate 85 near the 2 mile marker, inside the city limits of Montgomery.Â
