A man from Montgomery has been convicted and recently sentenced for a murder in 2015 that remained unsolved until 2023, said an announcement from District Attorney Azzie Oliver.

According to the announcement a minor traffic accident took place at the 3500 block of Woodley Ave. on April 1, 2015. The defendant, Darrell Moorer, reportedly became involved in an argument with Jamie Lightsey.

Moorer is said to have followed Lightsey into a nearby neighborhood and shot into her car, striking her in the head before fleeing.

The case went cold until a tip was sent to CrimeStoppers in 2023 that implicated Moorer.

He was sentenced to 24 years in prison by Judge Monet Gaines.
