After receiving a Special Initiatives Grant by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) will host three workshops for parents with special needs children. 

An announcement from MPS said that the workshops will provide education about their children's development and the implementation of their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Participant stipends will be paid if they follow these stipulations: 

  • Paid participants must be the legal parent/guardian of a currently enrolled student with special needs
  • Paid participants must be on time and present for the entire length of the workshop
  • Paid participants must register for each session separately (only 25 participants per session; waitlisted participants will be contacted upon cancellations)
  • Participants will be paid $100.00 per session (only 1 stipend per household per workshop topic)
  • Paid participants may only attend one session time per date
