A Montgomery high school student has been chosen to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City in February.

Booker T. Washington Magnet High School student Kaylen Miles, 17, was selected out of 10,000 applicants. She plays bass clarinet in the high school band.

"She has been offered to share this amazing opportunity with family members," said her GoFundMe page. "$8,500 will cover the cost for her tuition, flight, hotel stay, food, and the cost of the flight, hotel stay, and family plan of two family members from Alabama to New York. Please help us get Kaylen Miles and her family to New York…the place where dreams are made of..."

The GoFundMe page to support her trip can be found here.

Edit: This story was updated to clarify the number of applicants in the selection process.
