Selma's municipal judge, Donavan McGuire, has been named to the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Central East Alabama Chapter.

The chapter serves Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, Tallapoosa, and Wilcox counties through disaster relief, emergency preparedness, and community assistance programs.

McGuire is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery and earned his Juris Doctor from Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law. He is President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Pi Lambda Chapter, and is a Trustee at Beloved Apostolic Church of God.

"His appointment reflects the Red Cross’s continued effort to engage local leaders who understand the needs of the communities they serve," said a press release from Sen. Robert Stewart. "As a board member, Judge McGuire will help guide the organization’s mission to provide relief to those affected by disasters and support resilience across Central and East Alabama."
