The calf's father is a 32-year-old elephant named Romeo - making this calf a full sibling to almost four-year-old brother, Brazos.
The calf stood within six minutes of birth, was nursing within two hours, and was maneuvering her trunk well almost immediately, all indications of a healthy baby elephant.
All the calves are given Texas-themed names and the zoo is asking the public to vote and decide what they should name the newest addition to the family.
This baby is Bluebonnet's third calf and first female, so as a nod to mom, Texas flower-themed names have been chosen as potential monikers for the newest member of the herd.
The options are Lady Bird (Birdie), Yellow Rose (Rosie), and Black-eyed Susan (Susie).
Voting is already taking place and will end on October 6 at 10am on the Fort Worth Zoo's website.
